The Exhibition “Roter Faden – Textileforce”, curated by Barbara Putz-Plecko (head of the Department Textiles – Free, Applied and Experimental Artistic Design), gives insights into manifold, multi-layered, surprising and also complex practices of artistic textile production.
In cooperation with the University of Applied Arts Vienna, the Galerie Freihausgasse in Villach shows how versatile young artists’ modes of production can be and from which different perspectives they behold, think and shape.
The textile functions as artistic medium, cultural skin creation and space building element in design and architecture, as experimental and intelligent medium as well as model for structuring formation, conjunction and networking. Like the moving body and operating within and on the body or object, the textile and the performative interlink object and space.
The opening is accompanied by an exclusive performance by artist Zhou Bin (Chengdu, China) as well as exclusive performances by Markus Edelmann and Lissie Rettenwander.
